Opal Eunice (Lamb) Christian
Opal Eunice (Lamb) Christian, age 94, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., formerly of Rock Falls, died Monday, December 9, 2019 at The Pavilion Center in Lebanon, Tenn.
Opal was born January 26, 1925 in Walnut Ridge, Ark. the daughter of Leonard and Mattie (Manning) Lamb. She married Noble E. Christian on August 19, 1944 in El Paso, Texas. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1999. Opal was employed at GE in Morrison for 21 years retiring in 1985. She was a founding member of the First General Baptist Church in Steelton, IL and enjoyed the Sterling Senior Center, gardening, sewing and quilting. She moved to Tennessee in 2016.
She is survived by two sons, Donald (Donna Crow) Christian of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. and Dave (Melissa Nornhold) of Byron; eleven grandchildren, Paula (Earnie) Mandenhall of Fla., Dennis (Teresa) Christian of Rock Falls, Derek (Heather) Christian of Rock Falls, Dustin (his fiancé, Jewel) of Las Vegas, Nev., DeAnn (Jason) Lee of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Darrit (Jenny) Christian of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Kelsie Christian of Denver, Colo., Dawson Christian, Mattie Christian, Ben Christian and Baylee Christian all of Byron; fifteen great grandchildren; thirteen great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Iva Atkinson of Hoxie, Ark. and Lily Whitmore of Jonesboro, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sons, Dennis Christian in March 1968 and Darrell Christian in November 1994; four brothers; and five sisters.
Visitation will be Monday, December 16, 2019 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be Monday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Dalmus Meeks officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
A memorial has been established to the Whiteside County Senior Center.
