Betty Volkmar, 89, died peacefully on March 6, 2021 after a brief illness.
Born and raised on the Southwest Side of Chicago, Betty was delighted to
spend the last several decades living in Hyde Park, where she enjoyed the
view of Lake Michigan every day. Betty graduated from DePaul University with
a Master of Arts degree in English. She taught English for 31 years, the
last 24 years at Evergreen Park High School.

Betty was preceded in death by the love of her life, Bernard Yuffy, a gifted
pianist and a WWII veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and her best
friend, colleague, and partner in crime, Barbara Olson. Also preceded in
death by her parents, Edward J. and A. Leah Wolff Volkmar.

Betty would have turned 90 on July 28, 2021. A luncheon in her memory on or
near her birthday at the Greek Islands Restaurant, her favorite, is being
planned, subject to Covid restrictions. For details, please contact Robert
