Dear Gill family,
My deepest condolences on John's death. I am sorry to have missed his services but just heard the prayers at Old St. Pat's this morning. May he Rest In Peace, and may your memories of his great life sustain and strengthen you. As others here have mentioned, I could always count on running into John at Irish events on the north side, ever since I met him at a young Irish fellowship club party years ago.

My condolences to all the family of John. He was a kind and gentle person. I remember fondly the trip to Ireland where I first met John. Gone too young, RIP.

John was our dear friend and classmate with whom we all grew up together to find our way through life. John's remarkable character and patience has made him dearer to all who knew him over these years. To say we will miss him and that he is irreplaceable in our hearts is the greatest of understatements. John was a friend for all ages who will remain with us in our hearts for all time.

I share with family and friends the great sadness over John's passing. Ever since the phone call that brought the news, my sadness is tempered with the fond memories of a fellow 50 year Quigley alumni, an Irish Chicagoan, Lewis College alum, and friend in the LaSalle Manor(Plano) community. We shared a lot together. A candle is lit at the Grotto at Notre Dame in John's honor. John will always be fondly remembered and sadly missed. with Love Dan Kane

Daughter Anne lives at 5816 and emailed me in Indianapolis about John's sudden death. My folks and I moved into our house next door in 1948 and welcomed the Gills years later. We found Pat, Grace, and John to be neat, quiet, neighborly, and Irish Catholic, always good for over-the-fence conversation. Pat house painted and repaired for Dad, Grace sometimes went shopping with Ma. When my wife and I saw John sitting alone the evening of Grace's burial, we thought

I can't believe this news. I've known John for well over 35 years. We go way back to the days of the Young Irish Fellowship Club. We served on the Board of Directors back in the club's infancy. Although we hadn't kept in touch as much over the last few years, I could always count on running into John at all of the various Irish Festivals at Gaelic Park, the Irish Heritage Center and in Milwaukee. In fact, the

John a teacher, a pilot, an administrator, and most recently, the skipper of Callahan's boat all roles he donned with gentle aplomb; and while doing so, created a strength of friendship felt by many. An Irish gem who will be very much missed, but happily remembered.
